About This Dog
SERIOUS FOREVER HOME ONLY!!I will not just allow Arlo to go to anyone!!
He does require some serious training and patience!
**please note - when owning any type of dachshund, you are to expect some level of barking - they bark at their own farts.
Arlo is our 2 year old chocolate dapple miniature dachshund. We’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old.
He is microchipped, fully vaccinated, flead and wormed. He is due his yearly booster in January.
He has been brought up with our 6 children, 2 cats and our other dog (who has also had to be rehomed due to both dogs anxiety - they made each other bad)
Arlo has severe anxiety/seperation anxiety. We have to walk Arlo on private fields to prevent him seeing another dog as he will become quite distressed - for reasons we cannot understand as when we go to the neighbours with her rotties - his absolutely fine. When we go to my sisters with her Pomeranian and dachshund, his absolutely fine - this is something that can clearly be worked on over time.
He is extremely protective of the house and myself - so when people come to our house or knock on the door, he will bark and bark at the person - however - once his sniffed and sensed the person is there for any type of malice, he will roll for tummy loves.
Our vets wouldn’t castrate Arlo as they said in doing so, it would make his anxiety worse and advised us to work with a behaviourist dog person to help - in which we have done however, I cannot seem to help Arlo and his anxiety. I’ve tried and tried but I just cannot seem to meet his needs anymore which isn’t fair for him. I’ve been putting on having to rehome him as he truly is my furbaby, but keeping him for that reason is selfish as he deserves nothing but the best life ever!!
Personally, he needs a home where it’s quiet and someone whose home most the day so he doesn’t get stressed.
This is extremely difficult for me to do. Because I love him so so much so please do not be offended if I ask a 10000 questions to ensure my boy is going to the best home.
Any questions please do ask.
