Betty's ideal home

Betty is looking for a quiet home that will be able to read her body language carefully and be sensitive to her nervousness. Children living within the household or visiting must be of primary school age and must be sensible and respectful of Betty and how she is feeling. Betty has the potential to live with another small dog, pending successful meets at the centre. She is worried about being handled and needs a good level of trust to be established before delving too deep.

Could you be Betty's perfect match?

Betty is a three-year-old smooth-haired Dachshund who came into our care as a stray. She is a nervous girl who will need time to settle in and build up confidence and a bond with her new people. Betty likes snuggling up in a soft cosy bed and spending time with her handlers. She doesn't like dogs in her face who are too big or too playful and can get frustrated by food enrichment that is too difficult for her. She isn't housetrained or used to travelling in the car and does have a few other basic training needs, that her adopters will need to take on. Betty settles well when she is left on her own, but we would still advise that time is slowly built up once she has settled in, and that she has toilet breaks if left for any long periods. Betty is currently in foster care.
