About This Dog for Adoption

Rueben's ideal home

Ruben is looking for a loving home where he can feel calm and comfortable. He thrives in peaceful environments and enjoys relaxing in the evenings after a day of gentle activity. Ruben would be happiest in a home with minimal outside noise and limited foot traffic, so he can feel secure and settled.

He could live with older children (secondary school age or above) who can respect his need for a quieter space. While he hasn’t lived with children before, he does best in calm households rather than busy or noisy ones.

Ruben would love a secure, private garden where he can play, explore, and unwind. His ideal family will be committed to supporting him with ongoing training and guidance, helping him continue to grow in confidence.

Ruben would prefer to be the only dog in the home, unless rehomed with his friend Georgie. He’s still learning to feel comfortable around other dogs and would do best in a home without other pets, especially small animals.

Could you be Rueben's perfect match?

Meet Ruben – a charming seven-year-old Miniature Dachshund.
Ruben is currently in our care through our Homestay scheme with his friend Georgie, due to their owners' change in circumstances.

Ruben is a sociable and affectionate little guy who adores snuggling on the sofa. He’s friendly with people and loves calm, cosy environments where he can feel secure. While he’s not a fan of noisy or busy settings, he’ll happily share his warmth and loyalty with those who appreciate a peaceful home.

Food and dental chews are among Ruben’s favourite treats, and although toys don’t excite him much, he makes up for it with plenty of cuddles and tactile affection.

He’s housetrained and settles beautifully in the evenings, making him a wonderful companion for quiet nights in.

Ruben is used to being left for 5–6 hours most days in an open-plan living area, where he relaxes comfortably. In his new home, any time alone should be introduced gradually to help him feel safe and settled.

Travel is no trouble for Ruben—he rides calmly in the boot of the car and enjoys the journey without fuss.
