About This Dog for Adoption

Bear's ideal home

Bear is a 1-year-4-month-old miniature smooth-haired Dachshund and a certified lap dog through and through. If you’re looking for a snuggly little companion who’s happiest curled up on your knee, Bear might be your perfect match. He loves being cosied in, is relaxed being handled, and is generally a calm, sweet boy to have around the house.

At home, Bear is a polite little shadow who’s happy to settle on the sofa while you get on with your day. If you’re busy in the kitchen, he’ll sit in his bed and quietly watch, and when you’re eating he’s a proper gentleman - he’ll sit behind you on the sofa just “supervising” with no begging or fuss.

Out on walks, Bear is a dream on lead and doesn’t pull, preferring a calm, steady stroll. He is still building confidence in the world and can be timid around unfamiliar people, dogs and new places, often choosing to give them space while he figures things out. With kind, patient guidance and positive experiences, he’ll continue to grow in confidence at his own pace (only in the sun - Bear is a sensitive soul and not a fan of the rain!).

Bear is looking for a home with secondary school-aged children, a private secure garden, and he’ll need to be the only pet in the home so he can feel settled and safe while he builds his confidence. If you’ve got a cosy spot on the sofa (and a willingness to give tummy tickles on demand),Bear will repay you with all the love a little sausage dog can give. AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council.
