Katya
About This Dog
Katya's ideal home
This gorgeous girl is Katya, a 3 year old Dachshund X Jack Russell Terrier. Katya came into our care as a stray and may never have known the comforts of a real home before. She is currently a very worried girl who is doing her best to learn that the world isn't as scary as it seems and that there are kind people who want to help her. For this reason she will need several meets at our Rehoming Centre before adoption, in order to fully get to know her new family first. She would be best suited to a quiet home with a patient family where she can find her feet and come around at her own pace. Katya is currently sharing a kennel with her friend Elliot and we have noticed that his calming presence improves her confidence slightly around humans. For this reason, she could be rehomed with another dog, pending a successful meet at our centre, but would prefer all children to be older secondary school age and know when to give her the space she needs.
Could you be Katya's perfect match?
Katya has clearly been through a lot at such a young age and is proving to be such a brave girl, making small improvements every day. Her ideal family would be patient and understanding of her fears of the world and willing to give her all the support she needs to build her confidence. Given how timid she is, she has been working on walking on lead around our site. At first, she was unsure and was taken out in a pram which she seemed to enjoy. However, since having her friend Elliot with her, she has been brave enough to go on a couple of short, quiet walks with him. We have so much love for Katya and we can't wait for her to find a family who will give her everything she deserves and more. She will be such a rewarding companion to her lucky new family.
