About This Dog

Waffle's ideal home

Waffle is a 4 year old Dachshund looking for a quiet home where he can have all the attention to himself. He would like to be the only dog in the home.

He can be a little unsure when meeting new people and may be vocal at first, but he soon warms up once he gets to know you. Waffle has struggled living with younger children in the past, so he’d prefer a quieter home, although he could potentially live with dog savvy older secondary school age children.

Waffle would love someone who is around for most of the day, as he currently finds being left alone difficult. He may whine and pace while waiting for you to come home. Settling into a new routine has also been tricky for him, but with time, patience and reassurance, we hope he’ll learn to feel safe and comfortable having some time on his own.

Waffle is a sweet boy who just needs the right person to give him the time and space he needs to settle and feel at home.

Could you be Waffle's perfect match?

Waffle would benefit from having some doggy friends outside of the home. He enjoys socialising but can be unsure when meeting new people indoors and may bark at first. Give him some time to have a sniff and investigate in his own time, and he’ll soon warm up, especially if there are treats involved!

Waffle loves attention and may nuzzle into you when he wants some extra fuss. At night, he finds being left downstairs difficult and would much rather sleep upstairs near your bed in his own comfy bed.

Waffle has previously shown signs of IVDD, so he will need careful management to help reduce the risk of this happening again. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that he won’t experience further problems in the future, so his new family will need to be mindful of this and follow any advice given.

Once Waffle trusts you, he really is a loving little companion who just wants to be close to his people.
