About This Dog for Adoption
Winnie's ideal home
Winnie is a 3 year old Dachshund who is looking for her forever home with her best friend Dottie. These two gorgeous girl have been in a home for their whole lives and are hoping to stay together. They are both very affectionate and enjoy a life of comfort which means lots of comfy spots for a snooze or snuggling up on the sofa. Dottie and Winnie aren't a big fan of other dogs and prefer to have their own space, meaning they would like to be the only pets in their new home. They can be vocal when out and about so would prefer walkies in quieter areas. They can be left for a few hours, however we recommend that this is gradually built up as they settle into a new environment. We think the girls could live with children 8+, following a meeting here at the centre and providing they have a safe space to retreat to if needed. It would be ideal if they could have a garden of their own to play and explore in.
Could you be Winnie's perfect match?
Winnie is a lovely girl, who has lots of love to give to her forever family. This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
