Bailey's ideal home
Bailey is a nearly 5 year old Dachshund and a very nervous little boy who needs someone who will give him time and space to settle.
He has been picked on by other dogs since he was a puppy, so he can be unsure around bigger dogs. Bailey has lived with another dog before, but that dog was very much the centre of attention, and Bailey tended to stay in the background. He is currently in foster with several larger dogs and is doing well. He will need another suitable dog in his new home to help show him the ropes and give him confidence.
When Bailey first arrived, he spent most of his time hiding behind the sofa or washing machine. He is now starting to follow his foster carer around the house, which might sound like a small thing, but for Bailey it’s a really big step.
He needs patient owners with Dachshund experience who understand nervous dogs and won’t expect too much too soon. Everything will need to be taken slowly, including affection and walks, as Bailey can be very flighty when scared.
Bailey is toilet trained and will need his own private, secure garden. He has a long way to go, but with the right person, patience and lots of little baby steps, we hope Bailey will really start to enjoy life

Bailey is looking for a quiet, patient home where he can take things slowly and build his confidence. He could live with dog savvy secondary school aged children who understand that he can be nervous and needs space.
Bailey can worry when visitors arrive and may bark before retreating to his safe place. He isn’t used to toys yet and is still learning that walks and being outdoors are safe. He can be flighty when frightened, although he has gained confidence following another dog.
Bailey will need multiple meets and a home visit to help make his move as smooth as possible. He needs someone who will be patient and let him come out of his shell in his own time.
