About This Dog for Adoption

Ivy's ideal home

Ivy is a wonderful little dog who would love a home with a private outdoor space where she can relax and play to her heart's content. Ivy is a young, excitable dog, and while her playful spirit is infectious, she might find the lively antics of younger children a bit overwhelming. Therefore, Ivy would thrive in a home with children aged 10 or over, who can appropriately match her energy and understand her boundaries. She could live with another calm, similar-sized dog pending successful meets at our centre. Once Ivy has settled into her new home, she has the potential to be left for a couple of hours if time is built up gradually.

Could you be Ivy's perfect match?

Ivy is a one-year-old Dachshund cross Terrier who bursting with energy and enthusiasm! This bundle of joy absolutely adores being around people and thrives in a social environment. However, her love for companionship can make being alone a bit of a challenge for her. That said, with a little patience and guidance, she should be able to learn to feel more comfortable on her own.

Ivy can find other larger and more boisterous dogs a tad intimidating at the moment, and is on a journey of learning that not every pup is a cause for concern by using consistent encouragement and positive experiences. Ivy is full of love and potential, just waiting for the right person to help her blossom!

If you're looking for a lively companion who needs a little extra attention and care, Ivy might just be the perfect match for you!

Dachshund Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
