About This Dog for Adoption
Holly's ideal home
If you are a patient and kind-hearted person looking for a sweet and affectionate companion, Holly could be the one for you. She is a 4-and-a-half-year-old Dachshund cross who is looking for a gentle, understanding home where she can build up her confidence and feel safe. Holly would suit a calm household with children aged 12 and over, who can be respectful of her space, especially while she is settling in. She will need to be the only pet in the home, although she can have calm doggy friends out and about.
Holly would benefit from access to a secure private garden. As she is still growing in confidence, her new family should be happy to build up her leaving hours gradually once she has found her paws. Holly is becoming more confident with new people, though she can still be a little unsure if they are too hands-on too soon.
Could you be Holly's perfect match?
Holly is a truly lovely little lady with a gentle soul. She can be initially shy, but she warms up surprisingly quickly, especially with people who let her come to them in her own time. Once she knows you, she will happily hop into your lap or cuddle up in your arms. Holly has come a long way in building her confidence and now greets strangers with enthusiasm, though she can still be a bit unsure if she feels overwhelmed.
She walks well on a harness (which she will need, as she can panic on a collar),and she enjoys exploring her surroundings with calm, inquisitive energy. Holly has not shown much interest in toys yet, but she clearly enjoys human company and is happiest when with her favourite people. She is improving with grooming and is more comfortable with a mitt than a brush. She has been great for vet checks and copes well with gentle restraint.
Car travel is still new to her, she was happy to be lifted into the car and explored the space curiously. She showed a little worry around traffic but coped well overall. Holly is trying her best to be clean is making good progress with her housetraining. Her new owners must be patient whilst she continues to learn in the home.
