About This Dog for Adoption

Susie and Olive's ideal home

Susie (6yrs) and Olive (3yrs) are a mother-daughter duo who could be adopted as a pair. They are a friendly, small, wiggly couple who can live with children of around secondary school age. Susie mixes really nicely with other dogs and while Olive is a bit more unsure she would also be able to live with another dog in the home. Any match would be subject to a successful mix in centre prior to adoption.

Could you be Susie and Olive's perfect match?

Susie is a sweet Dachshund who is very used to her home comforts. She’s energetic but not used to lots of hustle and bustle so can be a bit noise sensitive. Despite this she very much enjoys the company of people and her daughter, Olive. Olive herself gets more confident when with her mum. She’s a bit more shy but does really well warming up to people if they take things slowly. Both ladies would like any time spent home without their humans to be built up gradually, but are happy to travel in the car and join their family on trips out and about instead. Susie is fully housetrained and Olive really tries to keep the kennel clean, so might just appreciate a quick refresher once home.

Dachshund Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
