About This Dog for Adoption

Lionel's ideal home

Lionel is a happy boy with high energy that would love to find his forever home. He has such a great nature and will play with his toys all day. He enjoys interacting with people, however, can be slightly worried on the initial meet but once he has a sniff, he will be your best friend and will want all the cuddles he can get. Lionel can be worried around other dogs and may need to create a little bit more distance from them whilst out and about exploring. Lionel would love to find a home with someone who is happy to keep up with his training around other dogs and generally helping him build more confidence. He needs to be the only pet in his new home.

Are you right for Lionel? If you have a quiet home with a lovely garden for Lionel to run around and play in, are happy to introduce him to new people on an individual basis, will give him lots of toy play and attention then Lionel would love to meet you.

Could you be Lionel's perfect match?

Lionel is a 5 year old black and tan Dachshund looking for his forever home. He came into our care through no fault of his own and is looking for owners who can spend lots of time with him at home and going for nice walks. Lionel can live with primary school aged children who have experience of being around dogs. We are looking to find adopters who are available to adopt Lionel next week.

Dachshund Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
