Harvey's ideal home

Harvey needs an adult only home due to his nervousness. He guards things from other dogs so will also need to be the only pet. He is housetrained and can be left for a few hours without worry.

Poor Harvey felt unhappy when a baby came into the household and now that the little one is mobile, the poor boy can't get any peace! He's rather worried by new people and this strange environment was very upsetting for him to begin with, but he's settled now and has begun to make friends with the staff. We know he doesn't like the rain or the hoover, but he does love to snuggle up and make himself cosy under blankets and pillows. Due to Harvey's nervous nature he has a little kennel in a quiet part of the centre and seems more settled there. He loves to be outside and his little legs go bounding through the grass as he investigates the site! Harvey will approach people quite happily but will back off if they move quickly or go to stroke him too soon, so a slow and gentle hello works much better for him, giving him time to assess you. Treats definitely help, he's quite a foody boy and this is an excellent way to gain his trust, though care should be taken not to overdo it and turn him into a chunk! Harvey has walked with a few dogs at the centre and is an easy going chap, introducing himself properly and then moving on. We're sure he would appreciate some friends for walks but he has potential to guard things so will need to be the only pet. We haven't seen Harvey play with toys much so far and we hope this will change when he finds his feet at home again. We know he loves the car and used to have his own car seat!
