About This Dog for Adoption

Buddy's ideal home

Buddy is looking for a home with his sister Dolly. They can live with other quiet dogs but not cats and are house trained, though you may want to put a puppy pad down overnight. He has numerous age related conditions including cataracts, joint pain and stage one kidney disease.

Could you be Buddy's perfect match?

Buddy and his sister Dolly are in need of a new home but are looking to stay together. They are in our care due to their owner’s ill health and have enjoyed being looked after at home by one of the team but have just moved into a fabulous foster home. Buddy is a senior gentleman with a lot of the issues that come with age such as failing sight and sore joints but he still enjoys a little potter about a few times a day. He’s never far from Dolly’s side but he will have a little wander about in the garden quite independently, though the two an usually found tightly curled up together enjoying one of many naps! In fact, they’ll snooze so much that sometime we have to wake them to remind them to go to the toilet! Buddy loves his food, but only as long as it has ham chopped up and mixed through it - if it hasn’t, this fussy boy simply won’t entertain it. Buddy and Dolly are a lovely pair who deserve to live out their days in comfort.

Dachshund Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
