About This Dog for Adoption

Richmond's ideal home

Richmond is on the hunt for his forever home. He would love a family who is around all the time, with very minimal leaving hours and the ability to build up being left alone gradually as Richmond prefers as much human company as possible. Richmond is an older gentleman of nearly 10 years old, but don't let this fool you he loves to go out for his walks and still enjoys a good play with his toys.

Could you be Richmond's perfect match?

This sweet boy has amazing manners and loves to say hi to everyone he meets people and pooches alike; though he can be vocal about saying hi to other dogs when out and about. Richmond is fully housetrained and travels well in the car and would fit into most family homes with the ability to live with young children and potentially another dog pending a successful meet & greet here at the centre. Richmond is on a hypoallergenic diet to help prevent allergy flare ups with his skin. Any potential adopter is welcome to chat with our vet team about this further if interested. If Richmond sounds like he could be the boy for you add him to your favourites today!!

Dachshund Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
