About This Dog

Drizzle's ideal home

Drizzle is a handsome 3-year-old Dachshund with a happy, confident personality who loves nothing more than getting outside to explore the world. An independent little character, he's just as content investigating his surroundings as he is enjoying a gentle fuss from people he knows and trusts. While he can be a little wary of strangers at first, he soon warms up and will happily come over for cuddles once you've earned his confidence. Drizzle settles well when left for short periods, gets on well with other dogs, and could happily live with a calm canine companion. As he has shown some resource guarding, this will need thoughtful management in the home, including feeding separately if living with another dog. He also loves his toys, but as he has a tendency to chew and swallow them, any toys provided should be carefully chosen and supervised.

Could you be Drizzle's perfect match?

Drizzle is looking for a patient and understanding home that will give him the time he needs to build trust. He may benefit from multiple meets at the centre before heading home, helping him form a bond with his new family. He could live with sensible secondary school-aged children who are able to understand and respect his boundaries, particularly around food and valued items. Ongoing positive, reward-based training, especially around his guarding behaviours, will help Drizzle continue to grow in confidence and thrive. In return, you'll gain a loyal, adventurous companion who will reward your patience with affection, companionship, and plenty of happy walks together.
