About This Dog for Adoption

Margaret's ideal home

6 year old Margaret is looking for a adult only forever home with not many visitors. She is initially a little worried when meeting new people and needs to be given some space to greet visitors in her own time. Margaret will need to be the only pet in the home and is happy to be left up to 4 hours once she has settled in with her new family. Currently staying with one of our lovely foster families Margaret has proved to be a very good girl, she is fully housetrained (odd accident to be expected when she first goes home) , travels well in the car and sleeps well at night. Margaret does have some ongoing medical to be discussed further with any new family and she will need a few meets here at the center before going home with her new family.

Could you be Margaret's perfect match?

Margaret is a shy little dog but once she knows you she loves a bit of affection and a snuggle on the sofa, it doesn't take long to win her round with a tasty meaty treat and letting her have some space to absorb her surroundings. When out and about Margaret walks well on a lead and harness, enjoying a nice walk having a sniff about and exploring. If you have a calm home and can offer this little lady the peace and tranquillity she loves then let us know.

Dachshund Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
