About This Dog for Adoption

Bluey's ideal home

Bluey is a 10month old Dachshund X he is looking for a home where he can be the only pet and could live with secondary school age children who are sensible around dogs and can understand he may be worried at times. Bluey can be underconfident with new people and may need a few meets at the centre to build a bond with his new family before going to his new home. Bluey is underconfident around other dogs and can show this by being vocal, he would benefit from some further training around dog interactions and our Training and Behaviour team can help advise you on how best to do this once he is settled in the home. Bluey will need his own, private secure garden so he has a safe space for toileting and play while he builds his confidence with the outside world.

Could you be Bluey's perfect match?

Bluey came into us due to a change in his owner's circumstances. At 10 months old, he is still very much a pup and is still learning about the big wide world which can mean he is unsure and nervous of things at times. He is looking for a home that can provide consistency and stability as he settles into his new routine. He is a sweet boy who loves a cuddle and enjoys playing games. He can be excited on walks and pull to get to where he wants to go so would benefit from some training around walking on a loose lead. Bluey is a clever boy who knows "sit" "lay down" and has good recall when off lead. He has been toilet trained but may need a refresher once in his new home. Bluey travels well in the car and would love to accompany his new family on lots of adventures.

Dachshund Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
