About This Dog for Adoption

Ralph's ideal home

3-year-old Ralph is looking for a home with no other pets, he can live with older teens of 16 plus as he is a nervous little boy. He travels well in the car. Ralph can be left for a couple of hours maximum, any longer leaving hours should be built up slowly as Ralph needs help with is confidence. He will need a private secure garden he can potter around in and get to enjoy the outside world. Ralph will need for his new owners to be happy to come in and meet him multiple times before he goes to his forever home.

Could you be Ralph's perfect match?

Ralph is such a lovely boy but does have a sensitive soul, so he is looking for patient owners who can help him come out his shell and take it slow with him (as he has growled at staff before). He will need further training with handling, especially with the vets, he is currently muzzled trained for the vets. Once he builds a bond he will take treats from his known handler. He is very under socialised with other dogs and the reason he was handed to us was that he wasn’t getting along with the other dog in the home. Ralph would benefit from a friend to enjoy walks with. He will make such a lovely little companion once he has built a bond with you.

Dachshund Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Dachshund.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Dachshund Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
